Jose H. Almeida

2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo under the instruction of Master Steve Blakeley, and has also trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over four years under Coach Mike Casteel. His martial arts journey began in 2013 in Denver, Colorado, where he discovered his passion for Taekwondo.

In September 2019, José and his family moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico—a place they proudly call home. A year later, they founded ATZMUS Martial Arts, a school dedicated to building not only strong martial artists but strong individuals. Today, José, his wife, daughter, and son all train in Taekwondo together, sharing the mats with their students and leading by example.

The name Atzmus means “Essence of God,” a principle that guides José’s teaching. He strives to instill in every student dedication to what they love, discipline in training, courage to fight for what is right, and the resilience to never give up.
